Aw I just realized I totally could have made my 101 post something about the Dalmations...or Room 101 in 1984 (hell yes AP LIT and getting closer to being somewhat cultured and well-read) oh well.

So I was checking out an Alexander Wang backpack on a site I can't remember..
And I'm like, "Hmmmm interesting pants. I love clever branding on clothes!"
And then I saw them again on Tumblr. And despite Googling various phrases like "designer jeans blue squares plus signs back thigh" I couldn't find what they are. Right now it would be helpful to have a more wide-spread fan base with my blog so someone could FILL ME IN!

Aside from that I really do like how this label identifies their jeans. For a while I would obsess about what my symbol would be for my brand. I really liked a Smithsonian-esque sun for a time.
I'm not a fan of Louie Vuitton's excessive LVs, I prefer the checkered squares on some of their leather goods. You know it's Louie, it's just not screaming EGO!! at you. Or maybe it's just that there have been so many knock-offs and copy cats and it's just ruined the initials for me. And hellooo Cristian Louboutins...can't beat a red sole.

I didn't watch the Emmy's because I completely forgot that they were last night plus I was running around in tutus with my friend because she needed help with her photo project for art, so I missed the Red Carpet which is really my favorite part of any awards show. I Hulu-ed it (because like Newspeak, any noun can be made into a verb (WHO LIKES MY AP LITERATURE 1984 REFERENCE? HUH? HUH?!)) and I only watched a couple clips but isn't Lea Michele adorable? She's such a little drama princess with her enthusiasm. And she looks the most stunning I've seen her. No wonder Ryan was miffed when she barely acknowledged him.

100th post! Let's just let this one be a bit of a celebration.

And this to amuse you.

If I lived in New York City and/or was rich I'd soooo be there. Oh and what is up with Karlie and Chanel always being paired up together? Are they actually biffles or do they just pretend to be since they're both Fresh Faces! and American Beauties! and always get thrown together and are basically the same age?

Tuck It In & Belt It

Tumblr, The Sartorialist aaaaand not sure who the vintage chick is...

Also you know that whole Baja hoodie post? Maybe not but apparently Proenza S
chouler's Resort collection had quite a bit of it. I'm
guessing their hoodie doesn't retail at $19.99. Maybe. Or not.

You like the new heading? I'll probably improve it soon. All this school work is giving me good reason to procrastinate. The images aren't mine but I photoshopped them together. I adore those illustrations but I got the image randomly off of tumblr so I don't know who the artist is.

Some other cute chocolate posters I came across.

Vintage ads are so charming!

So I wander into American Apparel the other day to try on that black dress I mentioned before (I'm going for the short sleeves because long sleeves is meant for a chick with simmer shoulders AKA my friend Ellen who btdubbs it looked really great on, of course I don't have a picture because everyone knows you're sent to the guillotine if you're caught taking pictures in an AA store duhhh because obviously I'm just taking the pictures because I'm actually an Asian spy who wants to make cheap(er) replications of the clothes to sell on the streets of New York and it's not like I couldn't just go online to look at the clothes in the store + some) and I see this...

And I'm all liiiike, "Oooo pretty!" But then I look at the price tag and I'm all liiike, "Oo, well not $84 worth of pretty"

But then I get home and I'm all like cruisin' the Web and whatnot and checkin' out dem blogs and all and I find this.

And then another blogger wearing it in white. If you don't especially care to watch, just believe me?

So perhaps if I want to be a real hip blogger I should invest. Perhaps I could just do with out and be the rather blah blogger that I'm so good at being? Yes, sounds divine.

Giovanna Battaglia, who constantly appears on The Sartorialist, always looks sufficiently chic and all. But, unlike any other shot of her I've seen, this one caught my eye. It was her accessories really. No, not the shades or her necklace or her Blackberry...
Her bracelets! I love that she has the same woven bracelets that teen girls stack on their wrists every summer. It makes her so much more...human. Not just some rich style mogul who only lives in the photos on style blogs. So... relatable.

I can't decide if these tights are really cool or if they'd just make it look like I had an unfortunate skin disease.
I'm leaning more towards the skin disease.

The only tights I can advocate are opaque black ones. All the rest...not so flattering. Those hot pink DKNY ones I obsessed over and finally got a few years back? Most likely permanently retired.

P.S. In expectation of school and in preparation of writing summer reports and summaries I'm attempting to use more intelligent sounding phrases and words. If it comes off awkward or I misuse usages, blame it on the avoidance of such higher thought the past couple months. Plus the fact that it's almost 4 am.

Pride & Prejudice (2005) is such a devastatingly gorgeous film. Of course, it has the classic novel to give it a solid base, but that doesn't guarantee a good movie. In this case, I can't decide which I like better. I am completely in love with everything about the film: the beautiful countryside and mansions, costumes, cast, even the soundtrack. It's so cheesy to say but it takes my breath away!

But damn it every time I watch this I fall in love with Mr. Darcy and then immediately fall into a depression once I realize he's completely fictional not to mention a few centuries my senior.

When's the last time anyone's seen a pay phone, anyway?

Friday, August 20, 2010

Last Friday my friends and I went to the late night at the DIA.
Obviously we were thoroughly engrossed by the art. Liiike, they did take mirror pixx in the 18th century, right?
I finally wore the Jill Stuart heels my mom's lovely friend Minnie gave me ages ago. Along with my mom's ink-stained Coach and one of my dad's old Brooks Brothers shirts. Look how eco-friendly I am with all my recycling/reuse!

So there are Uggs.

There are Skechers.

There are Shape-Ups.

Now there are Skechers Shape-Ups that look like Uggs!

Really, a milestone in footwear history.

....Hipsters....

Despite making fun of them and even playing Punch Hipster (as in a take off "Yellow Punch Buggy no punch backs!") while in Detroit on Saturday, my friends and I hit up the most Hipster-friendly locals in the city....Eastern Market, Bizarre Bazaar, Avalon Bakery, and this cafe called 1515 Broadway at which a man with glasses with clear plastic frames was working on his Mac. And we enjoyed our day very thoroughly. I think that secretly, there's a little bit of Hipster in all of us, whether we like it or not.

Also I totally want an animal hat like that Hipster in the commercial. So fricken cute.

I've got black sweaters, long black v-necks, short black v-necks, black velvet dresses, black leggings, black jeggings, black skirts, black shoes, black boots....And I just want more! It's such a simple canvas for the more outrageous things I own. To hell with camel, black will always be the new black to me!

Now that fashion is shifting away from that rocker, $1600 Balmain ripped t-shirt style, there are a wide variety of incoming trends. From the polished, '50s housewife to the power dresser of the 90s, there is no one, established look yet. Usually I'm ready to move on and roll along with the ever-changing industry, but I don't want to dressed like a mature, elegant lady. I'm only seventeen, and I want to dress like a classless mess while I still can!

Baja hoodies ... Is it worth being stereotyped as a pot head?

Monday, August 2, 2010

This weekend I watched Casablanca, The Thin Man, and Pink Cadillac. I love Humphrey Bogart and his romance with Lauren Bacall. It's just so...Romantic! Harhar. Although his characters in Casablanca, Sabrina and To Have and Have Not are all virtually the same, I don't mind because he's so great and the movies are great and he's great so it's all good. It's got that whole Mr. Darcy thing to it. And Nick and Nora... The originals mind you, none of that indie Infinite Playlist crap, are so hilarious. And then Clint. And he's unusually goofy in Pink Cadillac. So basically that older hottie thing. Except they're classy. Soo yup.

This weekend I attended my very first rodeo! YeeeeeeeeeHAW!
Friday night was a Jamey Johnson concert and the rodeo began on Saturday. I thought I'd be real clever about it and dress the part...jean shorts and cowboy boots. I quickly realized the U.P. Pro Rodeo is nothing like the Hoedown, and the real country boys and girls don't play dress up. I felt like a huge joke to the real cowgirls who seemed to follow the more practical uniform of boots, blue jeans, sparkly belt, patterned button-down and a hat. The cowboys wore about the same - minus the sparkly belt - but personally I think they wore it much better. ;)

The second day I just decided to take my friend's advice and embrace the fact that I was a misfit. I took it to the extreme and outfitted myself with a hat and scarf from a vintage store in town.
