Voltaire, hair. I, would personally, like to learn more about Voltaire. Gotta love Princess Diaries.

But a more recent movie... Whip It. Eh...so-so...the trailer was almost better. Kiiiind of a let down. Definitely not as bad as Dear John though. When I'm watching it, Whip It totally makes me want to be a Hurl Scout.

And have Drew Barrymore's rainbow streaked hair.

Not so much this tipped hair...Yeah...Not so much...
But look, look! it's the McQueen dress!

Thank you for being here today.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Of course as soon as I post about Alexander McQueen and come off all like, "ehhh it's good but ehhhh" he commits suicide. It's just that his collections are(were?) art, and extravagant, and almost other-worldly. Maybe I'm just shallow or I over-simplify fashion or something, but right now I like collections that I could actually envision myself wearing. And that's not a snarky or sarcastic statement. However, I've only really viewed his 2010 resort and spring ready-to-wear collections, so I when I have the time I'll go back through the Style.com archives and try to look at the other seasons with a new perspective.

Here are two of the looks I had saved from Style a few months ago.

I love how this looks like a massive, intricate tattoo.

*note to self**need a new synonym for "love"*

Fingers crossed for a snow day tomorrow....JOKE.

Anywho I stumbled upon this SO SICK PIC (lame, I know, I'm sorry).
While the actual show was a little extreme for my personal taste, Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer2010 collection has definitely struck the right chord with those of the fabulously extravagant.

So the sunglasses are by Giles, and la chica es Dree Hemingway. Here's a better picture from Jak & Jil.
Sooo basically I love this. Both the hair and especially the glasses. I remember looking at the show on Style a few months ago and the completely endearing dinosaur bags.

While trying to find these sunglasses...

...I found this.
-Yeah, but see there's a difference between Like and Love. Because I like my Sketchers, but I love my Prada backpack.
-But I love my Sketchers.
-That's because you don't have a Prada backpack.

I know wayyy back in December I said I'd post pictures from New York, but I never got around to it. And I probably won't for several more posts. See, they're either on my mom's computer or stashed on a DVD or hard drive or something since she takes pictures constantly and has a google* of them stockpiled somewhere, and I'm too lazy to rummage around for them. Plus they're all Christmas-y so they would be horribly out of time and place.

Butttt I can start filling ya'll in on what I discovered there.

Pure Dark in Greenwich Village. Oh my La
nta. Absolutely divine. I got a bit of the Classic Bark when we were there, and loved it so much that Santa brought me some more on Christmas morning.

After that we stopped by the notorious Magnolia Bakery, and then to the various Marc by Marc Jacobs stores. They had a polar bear display against Global Warming that you could get your picture taken with and then posted in the window, which was already smothered in photos. One lady came in with a little terrier named Asta, just like in Thin Man.

Everything about the trip was incredibly rushed and action packed, and we zipped through everything. But it was such a nice teaser of the city and I can not wait to go back! I'll continue a little series about the trip, and I'll be sure to search for those pictures, since our Google*-age brains like those (pictures I mean).

*I used "google" in both of its definitions. Ohhhhh yeahhhh.

It's like, even though you want to look away, you can't. That yellow bandana is just too captivating. And is that snapping sound his wrist?? I can't figure it out.

I watched the Grammies for about 15 minutes, so I didn't see much. However I did see Kristen Bell's dress....ick.
I'm so confused as to how celebrities show up in such disastrous outfits (not just Kristen) since they pay stylists lots of money to make them look good. I mean, I realize they have to have a few Oopsies since they are photographed soo often and everyone has their off-days and the ratio of bad:good is just so much larger than the normal person's since they are much more public. But seriously, Go Fug Yourself shows just how badly some stars need to ex their stylist. Or how badly some need one.

I started ChocolateSunglasses towards the end of last school year. One of my friends attempted to start a blog, mostly in mockery of me, but soon gave up. Well, more recently my friend Angela declared she was a starting a blog solely to get more hits than I from my mom, whom she claimed was my only viewer. But Angela got addicted, and now Michael has a new blog, and Ashley and Coady have also joined in. So check 'em outtt. But please ignore the hideous picture of me on Ange's blog.
Instead focus on some of her sweet photography liiiike this...
